剧情简介
Fraser到
芝加哥后与他搭档的是当地警察局的侦探Ray Vecchio，在本剧的前两季中，讲述的就是他们的经历。Fraser是一个非常冷静、保守、遵守法律规章的人，而Ray则是另一面:唠唠叨叨、有些令人厌恶的、随时会越规的人。但一结合，他们便是好组合，在趣味中侦破了一件件案件。第三季开始有所变化，Ray作为拉斯维加斯犯罪集团卧底远离的事件，加入进Fraser生活的是芝加哥的另位侦探Stanley Kowalski代替Ray。其他人员也有所调整。

是加拿大Alliance Communications公司从1994拍的电视剧。原本公司只是想拍一部电视电影。但当the Pilot episode播放后的收视率超出预期，公司就决定把这部电影转拍成电视剧。
在1994年的秋天在CBS播出，同时也是第一部加拿大的电视剧在美国的主流电视网的黄金时段上播放。
的历程是坎坷的。CBS在第一季结束后取消了以后的系列。但因为该剧在加拿大的成功，Alliance接手拍了第二季，从而该剧的第二季得以在美国播出。
随后的第三、四季的拍摄也历经艰苦。一年以后，他们恢复了其中一些演员和工作人员在该剧主题不变的基础上做了一些创新，1997-1999年《正南方》续篇重新出发。当该片的原班人马重新登上舞台时，David Marciano没能保住他的角色Ray Vecchio。虽然有了一些变化，但收视率还是没能如制作人所愿，续集系列也在拍摄了26集之后结束了。
